SONGWRITER’S SHOWCASE AT LUCKENBACH
Saturday, June 30 @ 8pm Luckenbach will host a Songwriter’s Showcase featuring three great songwriters, Sonny Throckmorton, George Ensle, and Joe Manuel. Sonny Throckmorton is a legendary songwriter who has written 17 #1 hits. He has been the Nashville Songwriter Association International's Songwriter of the Year four times. Sonny was inducted into the Nashville Songwriter Association International's Hall of Fame in 1987. Sonny wrote songs like “Tryin’ to Love Two Women”, Middle Age Crazy”, “The Way I Am”, “The Last Cheater’s Waltz”, and many more. George Ensle has established himself as a veteran singer/songwriter. His songs have been recorded by several artists and he has released cd’s in Europe and the US. He has earned federal grants to teach the art of songwriting to children. George’s songs have been included in tribute albums for the late Blaze Foley. The forthcoming movie “If I Could Only Fly” features “Blue Love”, a song co-written by George and Blaze Foley. Joe Manuel started performing at a very young age and has not stopped yet. He began his professional career when he was 10. His first recording was at Goldband Records in Lake Charles, La. with his brother, Abe, at the age of 13. Joe has recorded or performed with Lynn Anderson, T.G. Sheppard, Lee Ann Womack, Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard Ricky Skaggs, Randy Travis, George Strait, Johnny Paycheck, John Anderson, Willie Nelson and many more. Tickets are $10 the day of the show. Children 12 and under will be admitted free. There is limited seating in the dancehall, so ticket sales will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Coming up on July 4th Luckenbach hosts Walt and Tina Wilkins Hippytonk featuring artists such as Tommy Alverson, Lloyd Maines, Terri Hendrix, and Sam Baker. The event will be hosted by songwriters Walt and Tina Wilkins. Walt is a fifth-generation Texan, whose songs have been recorded by Pat Green, Ricky Skaggs, Ty Herndon, and duets by Kenny Rogers and Pam Tillis and Sammy Kershaw and Lorrie Morgan. Music will go from noon to 5pm.
On July 5 th and 6th Luckenbach will host the K&B Talent Showcase featuring Rodney Hayden, Owen Temple, Jamie Richards, Austin Collins, Bonnie Bishop, and The McKay Brothers. Music will be played from 2pm to 6pm each day. Afternoon music on July 4th through July 6th is free. On the evening of Friday, July 6th you can dance to the music of Bill Smallwood and the Jazz Cowboys in the world famous Luckenbach Dance Hall. The dance starts at 8pm and will go to midnight. Cost for the dance is only $5 per person. On July 7th, Walt Wilkins & The Mystiqueros will celebrate their CD pre-Release Party. Tickets may be purchased in advance through the Luckenbach website or at the gate for $15.
